I wanted to let everyone know about this cool app that I found called iStatusBar. It lets you remove the status bar from your iOS homescreen (which is something that always annoyed me).

I have some before and after samples below. Check out the app in the App Store (http://www.itunes.com/apps/istatusbar) if you are interested.

Agreed, had to look hard to see the differences, perhaps wallpapers that contrast that more?

Sure, here are some other before and after examples from the app.

Anyone can do this on their own with a image editor (like Photoshop). All it does is make the background behind the status bar lighter so that when the darker status bar is on top the two equal each other out and it looks like the status bar is invisible. This app just does it for you automatically. Pretty neat for customization.

Does it make it go away forever? Or only when the app is running in background?

It actually modifies the image to make the status bar invisible. So you don't need the app running the background.

The end result using a brighter wallpaper than the examples shown above is absolute rubbish.

Also, a very faint line is shown where the bottom of the status bar is.

Save your money guys, use Photoshop (or similar) all the app is doing is adjusting the opacity where the menu bar is.
