Took delivery of my new 24" iMac today and I am bowled over. This thing is big man, it`s real big, and it is beautifull. The display is just out of this world. I must admit that after reading some posts where some complain about the reflexion from the glossy screen and others about uneven brightness or yellow spots etc, I was getting somewhat concerned but I need not have worried. I have no complaints at all. I have two windows to my left and a white wall behind me and can see any reflection. The bluetooth mouse and keyboard works just fine as well. I have not seen this machine in real life before, only pictures, but I am so glad I ordered it, in real life it looks even better. Awesome really awesome.

Glückwunsch!

Congratulations, you sound very happy. Which configuration did you get?
And...schöne Grüße von der Ostsee. :)

Can I hijack the thread?!

Well, same really, I got mine yesterday too. It's an amazing machine...massive really, need to get used to it.

Had some problems sorting the wireless keyboard on Windows XP GRRRRRR...but after a couple of hours it's now sorted. I've realised what people talk about on this forum, in terms of the darkness a bit on the side of the screen, I don't care about that, most people wouldn't notice.

Mine seems pretty perfect, except for the bluetooth problems.

One thing that is negative is the mouse and the tracking. On Windows the movement of the wireless mouse seems BETTER than on OSX. As in, when I move the mouse slowly it moves really slow but if I move fast it's normal. Hard to explain, just I think I need a better mousemat. What do people recommend for a simple cool looking small mousemat?

I took the bottom of the line configuration for 24", 2,66 Ghz, 4 Gb Ram, 9400M. For me this is a big improvement from my Dell Dimension 1,86 Ghz with 2 Gb ram. I do not play games so I figured I did not need to upgrade the graphics. This machine does everythig I require, does it fast and does it with a lot of stile. I did not want to go to bed last night and ended up sleeping next to my mac on the couch in my home office. Now I know how this sounds and you probably think I am some over reacting teenager, but as it happens I am 57 years old, teach at a college, and normally not prone to outbursts of this kind. This machine is absolute fantastic and I feel like a small boy having xmas and my birthday on the same day. I am so exited I can hardly concentrate on anything else at the moment. My 15 year old son who has a mac book (black) offered to show me how everything works on my machine, but then I could not get him away from it again. He kept on finding new excuses to show me something else just so he could work with it longer. Luckily this morning he is in school and I have the day off. My son now thinks I am quite "cool", he uploaded some films and music to my HDD, not exactly my taste in music but the speakers have a good sound, so I see no need for extra boxes. So if you will now excuse me, my mac is waiting to be explored

Same config as me, except I have to struggle past my wife to get on it:rolleyes:

The only time I notice the screen reflection is when it's in sleep mode and there's nothing being displayed so not really a problem.

Now just unlearning my Windows habits - actually I can't as I use Windows at work along with Linux so it's more a case of learning the Mac way to do things.

Took delivery of the entry 24" model yesterday and finally got the chance to set it up this morning. It is my first Apple computer and I have to say I was blown away - why did I wait so long?!

I feel a little sadness for my Dell PC which, to be fair, has served me well. However, Vista's constant pop up reminders, warning balloons and egg timers finally tipped me over the edge. I'm looking forward to a more stress-free computing experience from now on!

I would suggest you get a copy of SteerMouse. It will allow you to better tune the tracking, etc. Enjoy your new iMac. :D

Rich
