Hi there,

I got the chance to buy a Mid 2011 21,5 for $680 with the following specification:
2,5 GHz Intel Core i5
Samsung SSD 850 Pro 512GB
16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB Gddr5

Would you suggest me to buy it or I would be better off with a crisp new entry level?
It is needed mostly for office work, once in a while for Photoshop.
Thanks, B

IF you can "afford new", then BUY new.

A 2011 doesn't have USB3 -- very lacking these days insofar as "connectivity" is concerned.

You might consider an Apple factory refurb -- more for your money.

I wouldn't pay more than $500.

Even at $500, I'd pay a bit more and get an Apple certified refurb of a more recent machine. That way, you'll get OS support and upgrades for longer.

Absolutely not, that is a pretty bad price. A fair market price on the 2.5ghz 2011 iMac is $250-350; and there are several for sale in that current price range. Obviously, the one you are interested in has a more expensive SSD, but SSD's are getting cheaper every day. I've seen several 2014's sell in the $500's, so if you like the 2011 - shop for a better deal. Otherwise, get something newer (and still pay less than $680.)

No. Would you pay typically that percentage of retail for 5 year old electronics? That model has also has a GPU problem. It will also hit vintage status this year, at which point Apple may not help you if the gpu dies. I would avoid it completely. Whoever priced it that way is a jackass.
