I bought iTap RDP to access my clients with Terminal Servers and while I thought it was an "okay" app, I recently bought LogMeIn Ignition to access my LogMeIn clients and that app is superb. Unfortunately, I can't use LogMeIn for Terminal Server access ( which wouldn't make sense anyway ) and it has caused to me to realize how inferior the iTap RDP client is.

My biggest gripe with iTap is that your finger acts as the mouse and it is quite frustrating to trying to place the mouse where you want it, unless you engage "zoom" mode which is also annoying.

Does anyone has a great alternative to iTap RDP that supports the native RDP protocol?

DesktopConnect....

Not sure how iTap works, but you can either have the mouse follow your taps or you can set it to use your screen like a touchpad.

I've been using mocha's RDP lite

It was decent on the iPhone but on the iPad the buttons at the bottom obscure more than I thought (same functionality between platforms)

I've taken it off my short list of a paid app.

(no particular order)
Desktop Connect
Wyse pocketcloud
Jump Desktop

Is my current short list. From what I see in the descriptions no additional software is needed on the server side, no VNC, nada. Just the OS rdp service.

Just keeping an eye on the forum/net for a moderately comprehensive review on these three.

In the screenshots the Wyse has an interesting pointer/mouse function that I'd like to hear more about.

you're not going to find a better alternative than iTap RDP. I used many RDP apps and I found iTap RDP to be the best.

Does Desktop Connect require you to setup/authenticate to a 3rd party account, or can you connect directly to a Terminal server with any added credentials?

Regarding the response to iTap RDP: how do you get around the atrocious mouse control?

I think Jaadu VNC is fantastic. With that being said, on the RDP side the best I've found so far is WinAdmin. Mocha RDP is garbage comparatively.

With WinAdmin, your clicks are mous clicks so you don't actually move the mouse like jaadu vnc. I am hoping for a better RDP client, but as of right now WinAdmin is just fine.

Wyse PocketCloud gives you both finger tap capability plus a moveable virtual mouse icon. You can use whichever is best suited for your current zoom level.

Works for me.
