i wonder how many they got now to download...what has been the last count?

i bet they'll have 1 million by the year mark

I agree that they will have 1 million. But here is the thing I really wish they had a better way to find music. It's gotten to the point now where there is so much music it's really hard to find what you like. They need a service where you can have streaming radio or something that gives you ideas of artists. I find that most of the best artists I find are ones that I have never heard of, it's just really hard. I remember they once had something that was like up and coming but I can't find that anymore.

i agree... i like that they are getting more and more...if i had it my way there would be a lot more artists on there but now there are new must have lists every month...thats just ridiculous, its to much.

i don't usually use itunes as a way to find new things...i use sites like allmusicguide and music mob and itunes registry. then i listen to them on itunes.

I doubt that they will have 1 million by the one year mark (April 28th).

The last numbers we were told was by Steve, and then in January they only had 500,000. I'm guessing that at the one year mark they will have more like 750,000 at the most.

April 28th, 2003 - 200,000 song debut
January 21st, 2004 - 500,000 songs (9 months in)
April 28th, 2004 - 500,000 songs + 3 months of additions

I think that even 750,000 would be rather amazing and 600,000 more reasonable. I'm sure Apple will have a press release on it. (Hopefully to include songs sold in year one and the outcome of the Pepsi giveaway).

Apple Radio ...

Since iTunes already does streaming radio, Apple should use that as a way to feature it's music. Imagine you are listening to a cool song. You look at the status bar to see the artist and song title. Next to the title is a "Buy Now" button that lets you purchase the song that is currently playing. Or another button that links you to other songs by the current artist.

Just a thought.

w00t, they finally got stephen lynch!

But eveytime I try to purchase it just asks for authorization... And Billing Info, but never starts downloading the music...

EDIT:nevermind, got it working.

hmm... maybe completely re-do the internet radio in iTunes, break it down into the genres of iTMS, and then have a few selections, like hits, new, just added, up and coming, and maybe an "i bet you never heard this before". it can have a little link to the artist page on iTunes, and a button to buy the song that second.
