Despite many people believing that a possibly new iApp called iTraks would be a consumer audio editing app, does anyone think that it is really the name for their widely expected new music service? Seems logical to me. A little play on words with each song on a CD being a "track" and Apple making it "iTraks." I wish they would drop the "i" on this one. It's getting old......

Good points. Try this, since this is a service, not a software per se. Perhaps this falls outside the "i" designation. Maybe"dot-Trak"?
(yeah, I know they trademarked iTraks)

a) not really sure how this is a play on words - a track is a track, no pun involved;
b) i'm 99% certain that this is going to be incorporated into iTunes for purchasing. If not, it will be web based like Audible, where you then feed it into iTunes. But there won't be another app released for it--

Well, perhpas it is not a play on words, but a track is definitely not a trak. That's all that I meant.
As for being incorporated into iTunes, that would be better most likely, but I still think it will be a new iApp, just integrated with iTunes to make it simple.
Whatever it is, I hope this new music service is a success, no matter what it is called.

but isn't the "i" from when the iMac came out? That "i" supposedly meant "internet" didn't it?? Apple doing away with floppy drives and pushing the 'net as a replacement. I guess it's migrated more to a comsumer app prefix seeing as iMovie and iDVD aren't exactly "internet" anything.
but yeah iTraks sounds like a logical name for the new music service, which personally I think could be great, get the latest songs for a buck, there's no way I spend 4 bucks or whatever it is on one cd single, talk about extortion. It could so easily be complete crap though, let's hope not.
