its 4am..cramming for Final.. and Time Machine is Messing with my head

Ive been real good at trying to back up everyday.. and when i "entered time machine" today, it shows that the last changes made were about 7 days ago.. meaning all the lines before now are grayed out except for 7 days ago and b4 that. if i physically go into my harddrive then I can see all the folders and can access them there, but if i enter time machine then I cant.. why?

see ..not possible.. because im a student and ive been having finals..and ive been moving files around and edit them and such.. buttt thats what i figured too..so i made a test..i moved a file into the desktop folder.. then do a backup..and time machine still show nothing b4 "now" except 7 days ago.
