Intel Core 2 Duo T7600 2.33GHz PC667, 4M BOXED: NOK 5250,- (Around $861)

Samsung SpinPoint M60S 160GB 5400RPM SATA 2,5": NOK 1420,- ($233)

---- Here we've passed the price for the lowest speced mac mini from apple ----

Crucial DDR2 SO-DIMM 2048MB CL4 Non-ECC, 1.8V, 256Mx64, 200p DDR2 PC2-4200: NOK 13390,- ($2197) for two

Grand total: NOK 20060,- ($3292)

That's around the price for the lowest Mac Pro

Buy an iMac or Mac Pro then.

His point is that it is amazing that such a price could be put on a computer with nowhere near the power of a Mac Pro, not that he wanted to buy that computer and was really surprised.

EDID: OP, you posted while I was writing

Two-thirds of your price is for 2 x 2GB sticks of RAM, which the entry-level Mac Pro doesn't come close to.

Not that a mini would be able to use 4 GB of RAM anyway...

Really? I got £16.5k when I last spent a few hours :)rolleyes: ) on the Apple site. I suppose that's what, about $22k?

I want to buy a Mini to act as an iTunes based Jukebox, and put all our CDs in storage. Use the TV as a monitor, and watch DVDs thru it too. A nice, small box on top of my stereo's amp/receiver.

But whenever I spec it out, I can't make myself hit the checkout button. My brain screams "Just get an iMac".

Last I checked, I ain't rich enough to task an iMac as a jukebox.

Upgrade to Core 2 like a Pro!

The Core 2 is a nice upgrade for any Intel Mac Mini. I recommend that the plastic CPU pins be replaced with Nylon screws and nuts. Amazon has them.

I just replaced a 1.5 core solo with a 2Ghz Core 2! I call it my Mini Mac Pro!

:)
