I am now the owner of a brand new imac. Typical girl thing to say but 24" is really rather big isn't it. I don't think I could handle a 30" which seems to be wanted by many.
After remembering to buy a wireless router and iwork, I then forget to get apple care. Oh well I've got a year.
Anyway great day for me.

Congradulations!

I personally dont understand why anyone would want a 30 inch iMac, unless it was being used as an entertainment system (ie, TV) but that seems like kind of a waste of money.

I would recommend getting Apple Care someplace other than Apple. You can usually find it cheaper from a third party.

Is apple care legit from a third party then? Could I buy it at ebay for instance?

i got mine from amazon and saved money even. and yes it is legit to buy from some other place. just have to be careful with ebay as usual and make sure it unopened/unused etc.

Thanks I'll check amazon.

congrats!

ive been waiting to pick up a macbook but have just considered the imac. i already have a laptop so an imac wouldnt be such a bad idea. i will probably stick to 20inch.

just a question, sorry if its noobish... can i hook up an imac wirelessly:confused:
or do i need to buy a wireless card?

i was also looking at the specs and it says: # AirPort Extreme
what is that? (i know there is the wireless router but wouldnt think its included)
thanks and sorry for being so ignorent/naive!

The iMac comes with 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11n (wireless) connectivity. In addition, it also can do Bluetooth and IR (mostly dedicated to the FrontRow remote control) out of the box.

I F*n love front row! I love my imac too. It is without a doubt the best computer purchase I have ever made. No problems, no complaints.

I did some more homework and am loving this iMac idea more and more.
Glad you guys are loving yours!

I'm more than probably still just in excitement mode, but to me I would say just buy it. I spent ages saving up for this baby. (New Imac no debt yay). I then waited for the refresh, I'm actually glad I did this as I now have a better computer for less money. But I think now is the best time to buy.

I'm happy for you as well. Me too have the same iMac as you do, as an old time Mac user, I'm loving it.

Front Row on a 24-inch iMac makes so much sense now.

Mind you, I fired up my iMac on day 1 and received 13 updates.

Enjoy!

thanks!

The price differential between Apple and Windows PCs starts shrinking when you consider what already comes built into/installed in iMacs and MacBooks. The value is very good and everything just fits well together - hardware and software. Except in the game category, what you can do in the WinPCs can be done on Macs - and better.

yea im really liking the mac idea. im currently using my brother's desktop (i have been using a laptop for last 4 years) and really liking the speed, although his is a quad.

i am deciding between the two 20" models. 24" will be too big for me and i can't justify spending that kind of money since i don't game nor do heavy graphic stuff. i will be getting a 37" or 40" LCD and a ps3 so TV + Blu Ray is taken care by that. the iMac will be strictly for downloading tv shows, surfing the web, msn, iphoto, and basic photoshop!

thanks guys and i can't wait to get mine!

Great! Good luck and post any other questions. The things you intend for your future Mac are a piece of cake. Creating movies and DVDs are also amazingly simple within Mac OS X, iLife (which comes with the Macs) and Macs.
