yeeee gods its been ages since i have been on this forum. but i will say now it is good to be back.

Basically after my poor previous iphone fell into the Themes river (without insurance) i have been very much iPhoneless since october, and suffering from heavy withdrawal. But hey! i am back! and its good to be back, although i would like to catch up a little which is the whole idea of this post.

One thing I was thinking as i have no intention of changing my iPhone from the network its on, and because now the app store if filled with some very cool apps, is there any real reason for me to do it any more? i mean, are there any community apps that are just out of this world that i cant get them in the store?

would love feedback.

Jailbreaking offers Cydia, an alternative to the Apple App Store, and root access to your device.

Cydia has many great apps to offer, like Cycorder (video recording), better SMS and MMS apps, copy and paste, themes, and lots of other cool hacks/mods. There's even emulators such as NES, SNES etc to bring back those precious memories :)

Perhaps you should Jailbreak to see what it's like? Try things out a bit. If you don't like it you can always go back :p

Ok well i unlocked it using Quickpwn, (pwnage tool didnt seem to want to work for me) and it doesnt look like anything on my iphone has changed and i cant find any extra installer, is there smething i need to do?

Did you check the Install Cydia box? And it's Jailbreaking, not unlocking. Unlocking is allowing the phone to be used on any GSM carrier.

erm, qickpwn kina did it all kinda fast, there was nothing to click really.

i am on a mac if that helps

Make sure you stay away from Installer. It's nothing like it used to be.

Cydia is great and has everything you will need. Methinks once you jailbreak you'll stay that way.

whats wrong with installer??......and have you heard of installous, and do you like it.????......thnks:apple:

The main reason I jailbroke in the first place and continue to run JB'd is due to the ability to customize your phone you get from jailbreaking. You can customize virtually everything about it, and if you don't find a theme you like you can even make your own. Overall, it just makes it seem like "your" phone, as opposed to a generic iPhone. Once you go hack, you don't go back ;)
