Hi, my kid just destroyed my Dell u3818dw (21:9, ultra-wide monitor, 38", 3840 x 1600).
I'm shopping for a new monitor.
I have a mac mini M1, 16 go. I do office work.
First, I don't want to spend 1000$ for it. (I had this monitor for like 8 months... ). Everything is or will be broken is this house. Would be much cheaper to sell the kid but my gf doesn't agree to so here we are.
- I really like the ultra-wide setup (to not have the bezel in the middle like I had when I used 2x22").
- 110 DPI is not that great but I can live with it, but a 34, 220 dpi would be perfect. Maybe in 10 years??.
But honestly I'm tempted with a 27, 4k monitor + a second one, but I don't want to return to my previous problem (to have a bezel in front of my face for 8 hours/day). I could also put my 27 in front, and the other one at the left, maybe even vertical, but not sure it will get the job done.
There is a lot of 300-500$US model on amazon warehouse and ncix, but kinda hard to decide without seing them.
Some example : LG 34WN80C-B, LG Ultragear 34GL750, MSI Optix MAG342CQR and MAG341CQ, ASUS VG34VQL1B.
Thanks for your input!

- So I think I'll go with a 34" since they are much cheaper but there is big difference in term of price between models.
- I don't do game. Will I see a difference between 60 hertz and 120?
- Is brightness really important? I used my Dell at maybe 50%, not sure what I would do with more luminosity.
- Should I check for something else? Like 99% color garmut, I think I don't care, but do I?
- USB-C seems a nice-to-have feature, but it's ~150$US more, and I rarely, if ever, plug my mbp14 on it, so not sure it's worth it.
