Hello Everyone!

I recently joined MacRumors! Anyway, I want to ask the opinion of everyone.

Do you think the iPod Classic will get an update? Someone stole my iPod August 2010 and I haven't had the money to get a new one. But since it is my birthday, my family told me they'll buy me a new one.

Am really a music person. Am not so much into apps and stuff. But, most of my friends are telling me to just get an iPod touch since it is sooo much better than the iPod classic.

So, I was wondering if anyone can help me decide if I'll buy an iPod now or wait for September? and, which iPod to buy? Classic or Touch.

Thanks!! ;)

Hmm, I dunno. If it makes you feel any better though I just ordered 2 Ipod Nanos for both myself and my Mrs. So even if there IS a refresh, and you go ahead and buy one now, so what ey? The Ipods that we have today are incredible and they hold an incredibly large amount of songs, so you can just wait and see what happens or pick one up now and still guaranteed to not feel disappointed.

Oh and happy birthday : )

Happy Birthday Bloated Jake!

I used to be a big fan of the classic iPod… Then, like many people I guess, I finally got my hands on an iPhone and never looked back. The iPod Touch (we own two in our family, in addition to iPhones) is hands-down a more exciting device than the Classic in every way. You may not think yourself 'much into apps and stuff' now, but I'll wager if you get one, you'll soon find yourself doing more with the device than you first imagined. I think it's that kind of experience for most people.

Of course, you need to make sure you have the storage capacity for your music collection. I only have a 16GB iPhone, and it's just not big enough to store all my music and apps. I certainly wouldn't bother with the 8 GB Touch, but the 32 and 64 GB options might be worth looking at.

Happy Birthday!

How about you ask for Apple Store gift cards in the amount of the Classic and see what transpires in September/October?

Happy Birthday, and welcome to MacRumors!

I have an iPod Classic myself, and I don't see myself getting rid of it - although an iPod Touch or iPhone is really nice, both for playing music and for apps.

The reason I bought the Classic is simple storage - my library is too big to fit on a Touch. I also don't care to listen to music with my phone (mostly because of battery life). My iPod spends most of its time plugged in in my truck, although I do take it out when I fly or otherwise ready to spend a fair amount of time want to listen to music uninterrupted.

As for refreshes, those typically come around September, for back-to-school sales, but there's no guarantee they'll do it again this year.

If u are going to put massive amounts of music on the device (past 64g) then the classic is the way to go. Otherwise get the touch. And happy b day

thank you!

To those who replied and greeted me, thank you sooo much! :)

I've decided to look for an ipod classic as soon as possible. I considered all that you said and I really think the ipod classic would really suit me. If I do wait for September, then I'll have to wait for updates etc etc. And it might be sooo much more expensive that it's current price right now. Although I do know that it might be sooo much more better.

Anyway, I'll give an update if ever I have purchased it. Again, thank you! ;)

Remember, with Apple products, prices usually stay the same and specs are bumped.
