Hi guys,

I just figured out that you can still access the .mac servers and interface. I was messing around trying to figure out how to auotmount my iDisk at login, and I ran into this:

If you got to idisk.mac.com/"your username"

a pop up dialog will ask you for your username and password, once you enter them, you end up on the .Mac idisk page.

I tried using the trick for mail, but it redirects to MobileMe.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5B108 Safari/525.20)

That's pretty neat. I wonder how long Apple will keep it up like that. Thanks for sharing.

iDisk is the only thing that works .Mac way since Apple still hasnt pulled up the MMe 'Public iDisk' interface..... thus it needs to keep both the old .Mac interface and the new MMe interface!

try: public.me.com/<username>
This is supposed to put you to the MMe's public iDisk but instead redirects you to .Mac!

No problem! Now I'm going to spend the whole day trying to see if I can somehow get into mail this way. My high school still runs IE6:(, and I need to find a way to check my email in my tech class:D!

But this is really stupid! Why are all Govt and related institutions all sticking to the now obsolete and ultra weak IE6!
Search the forums and you'll find a lot of people crying out loud just because our Govt is not to be bothered by technology advancements!

You think that's bad! All of the Macs in the school are running 10.4.5 (I know that it isn't up to date, it might be a different 10.4.x), the tech guys sit at their desk in the IT office playing solitare (I know, a teacher sent me to get one once because he wasn't answering his phone:eek::mad:). Some of the XP machines have like 100 security updates ready to install. Me and some of my geek/computer nerd friends asked the principal if we could stay after school one day and help update the computers, and he said no, because "kids a computer illiterate":mad::mad:!!!

Sadly....... its already been said in a support document..... You cant add anymore groups (old ones will still exist), you cant send iCards, you dont have homepage!
And soon Apple'll put an end to the existing groups as well!

How unfortunate! Maybe the backlash will be strong enough, that Apple will reinstate these services.
