Yikes! A Mac Mini with the same CPU as an iMac? A device as powerful as an iMac, yet less expensive and more flexible (since the user can now choose their own monitor)? But, that might make people choose the Mini instead of an iMac!

Some people actually PREFER the iMac for the neatness factor if nothing else. It really does help with all the cable BS in an office with multiple computers.

Well yes, there is that. But I would say, it's the neatness factor _and_ nothing else. I really, really hate the idea of having to throw out an entire computer just because a monitor has gone bad, or having to throw out a monitor just because a CPU has gone bad. I'm writing this message right now a wonderful old Viewsonic VP201b that has survived the passing of a Dell workstation, an HP Slimline PC, and has now been attached to a Mini for nearly half a decade. And I see no reason to throw it into the garbage any time soon...

Anyway, in short, I know there are some advantages to an all-in-one machine, but I'm never going to buy one.

Errr, just read the specs of the NUC Kit, it is in fact an HDMI 1.4b port...WTH??? It's almost 2016 for god's sake?!

I get that for sure and felt the exact same way. But when the iMac Retina first came out and I saw that screen, I succumbed. I still miss my mini. As does my cat, who used to lay on it for hours. I feel the same way about the Mini but if it doesn't come next year I will be forced to the iMac also. Test driving the Best Buy Black Friday 27" right now to see how it works and if it will fit in my situation and it's a very nice machine except if it needs repaired it's a pain in the ass to cart around.

I still prefer the size of the Mini with a nice 24" 4K display.

As well as the high-quality 4K display (true 4K 4096x2304, not 3840x2160). That alone will push many people toward the iMac.
