iPod iTunes 10.5 missing artwork for ipod

Sorry if this is redundant, but i can't find this specific problem online.

Did the 10.5.1 update somehow break the album artwork links between my ipod classic and my itunes on my mac? (10.5.8 PPC)

The artwork shows up fine on the ipod, and it also shows up on songs IN my itunes library. But when i connect the ipod, and select a song on it (not synced) the artwork doesn't show up.... pretty sure it used to... or am i imagining things?
