I wonder when iTunes 11 arrives, if it'll be available for download from the app store. Ever since OS X 10.6.8, Apple has been putting their apps (iLife, iWork, Final Cut, OS X, etc) on the app store. With Apple promoting the app store, I'd be surprised if iTunes 11 isn't available through the app store. I'm surprised that versions of iTunes released since OS X10.6.8 haven't been on the app store yet. I think iTunes 11 should enable that, instead of always having to go to the apple website

iTunes 11 App Store?

Every Mac has iTunes pre-installed, so all that really needs to be done is run Software Update to install iTunes 11. Personally, I would like all Apple apps to be listed in the Mac App Store and downloaded by the user, if they feel they need it.
By listing it in the Mac App Store, instead of having it pre-installed, it would allow the user to make sure they have the latest version and would avoid any issues that updates could cause.
As for listing it in the Windows Store, it would require Apple to make a specific Metro app just for Windows 8, which I don't see Apple doing anytime soon. All Apple could do right now is list iTunes 11 in the Windows Store, as a link to download it directly from their site.

That's what I see. They aren't going to use the Windows store so they are still going to have to host the download anyway. And If they do it to Windows, they are just going to add the Mac version. They seem to do this for applications that are cross platform for both Windows and Mac. That and updates.
And given that on the Mac side of things, it's seen as a core application, there is no incentive to host it in the MAS given that it is going to be on every mac anyway. iTunes isn't really a commercial application like the other apps that they do sell. It's included because it's somewhat required for the iOS devices.
