My iMac has been crashing a lot lately and I suspected a memory leak so I wrote a script to log the memory usage of the top 10 apps every 15 minutes. This morning it crashed again, and I saw this info for the top process (iTunes):
RSIZE: 4376M+
VPRVT: 70G+
The next highest app (for comparison) was kernel_task with this:
rsize: 1294M+
VPRVT: 199M+
So, it's pretty obvious, the machine crashes because lack of swap space due to iTunes taking up 70G+. Is there a known memory leak for iTunes 11.0.2? The machine will sometimes work for days without a crash. Sometimes only for one day.
It's very frustrating.
