ok, so from what I'm reading, iTunes 12.1 now breaks the ability to downgrade to iOS 8.1.2. With that being said, I had to get a new Mac (long story in case I can't restore my old one) and it automatically upgraded iTunes to 12.1.

So how do you downgrade to iTunes 12.0.1? I watched a video tutorial but I'm still kind of lost. I read that you can use App Cleaner to untinstall iTunes 12.1 but that would delete my folder Music > iTunes.

So, do I just move that folder to my desktop and then reinstall 12.0.1 and then move Music > iTunes back? Or, do I even have to move the folder at all?

I can't find a clear and concise answer anywhere.

You have to remove first everything installed from Apple...Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support, iCloud and iTunes 12.1.

Rename iTunes Library.itl to iTunes Library.bak

Restart the computer.

Install iTunes 12.0.1

Correct me if I'm wrong, but those are Windows files. I can't find anything that those are in OS X. So, that's where I'm confused.

This is all I have

Isn't this just for windows? I have 12.1 for Mac and it allows me to option-click and restore to 8.1.2 just like it always has.

????

Could be, not sure, I found in on Reddit.
BTW Jumpie, you have the mentioned file .itl

i read that 12.1 break the ability to use taig or something.

Yeah, but not the ability to downgrade.

I think it's more of an issue of Taig not seeing the drivers in windows, something an update should resolve.

Oh, so for OS X it's still ok? No need to downgrade?

Well I just restored a phone to 8.1.2 last night... I jailbreak within windows though, so can't comment to downgrading, can only say u need 12.0.1 for the current version of Taig to work within Windows 8

If I knew how to update the title, I would. I guess I should've clarified and said for OS X.

I just downgraded to 8.1.2; no problems with iTunes 12.1 on my Mac.
No need to restore; just 'uograded' to 8.1.2.
Rejailbreak was easy.
