Thats great news! I might take the plunge on my air 2. I reckon if any issues should arise, it'd be the iphone 8/X since even on 12.6.2, my air2 worked fine on iOS11
If you have any mac, never bother upgrading to Mojave because it will update your iTunes to 12.7, unless you have no choice.
it did that when i upgraded to high sierra too but was able to force remove it from terminal and install 12.6.4. I wonder if that method still works though but ill look into it.
I have several critical Safari extensions stop working after updating to the beta, alongside a bunch of other apps, so I choose to immediately fall back.

Ok so i just tested it. It is still possible to remove itunes 12.7 using terminal but the installer for 12.6.4 does not work and says it's not supported. I copied my iTunes 12.6.4 icon from my High Sierra installation and dropped it into Mojave's application folder.
As far as i can tell, it works fine.
Looks very cool. That means I can potentially keep using iTunes 12.6.4 for the time being, and load custom ringtones as usual. But there has to be compromises that I did not have time to discover.
Maybe I will jump back briefly after it is released.
App syncing or backing up is waste of time. First of all, Apple has dropped support for it.
If you backup an app, fully reset/restore your phone and try to copy over the backed up apps, they will install fine with iTunes 12.6.4
BUT.... BUT.... whenever an update comes up for those apps, your iDevice does not do a delta update. It downloads the entire app to update. All subsequent updates are delta updates. So the main objective of people to conserve bandwidth is not met. When I realised this, I moved on. Luckily my ISP bumped up my download speed to 50Mbps and FUP cap was also bumped to 800 GB per month. So whenever I reset my phone and want to set it up as new, I download those apps from my past purchases page. Little boring but I have come to terms with it.

If all your apps are mainstream apps or super famous apps with continuous support, sure saving those apps is a waste of time and storage space. The thing is, there are tons of apps that are decent for some people and there is no replacement. Without iTunes, these apps are gone because they are gone from iTunes Store.
And, many homes have more than one idevice. Downloading once and pushing the update across all devices locally makes a lot of sense, even if the download is a full package instead of a delta update. I haven’t crunched the math here though.
It’s not about bandwidth. I want to be able to go back to previous versions when the need arises. An app I use a lot got bugged and I’ve been in contact with the developer since April. In the meantime, I want to be able to use an older version while the bug smashing business is going on. This a serious issue since I’ve lost data because of it. Backups don’t work here because the bug causes a crash while I’m recording a lecture in class.

Thanks for that. But it seems after I updated my Mac, iTunes 12.6.4 doesn't give an error when I select to Restore iPhone.
You copied the iTunes 12.6.4 ICON and it works? How is this possible? Please explain.
Anybody else who managed to get rid of 12.7 and reinstall 12.6.4 (or 12.6.5) on Mojave? Please tell us how.
I think what he means is that he moved the iTunes app 12.6.4 from the old drive to the new application folder in Mojave - you will also have to move the Library file and the xml file to the iTunes folder if you want the playlists and play counts etc.
I have not tried it myself - but will try when I have time - my guess is Apple will release another version after Mojave is officially released?
I have iTunes installed on my high sierra drive. Went into mojave and through terminal typed in sudo rm - R /Applications/Itunes.app
copied over iTunes from my /Applications folder on the HS install and it works perfect
Glad that work for you both - I was not able to get 12.6.5 working on Mojave (build 18A389) tried moving from High Sierra and from Low Sierra - no joy - also tried the installer 12.6.5.3 - that does not work on Mojave either.
Maybe Apple is drawing a line in the sand for the iOS app store and app management in iTunes? - which kind of sucks IMO!
I am still hoping there will be an update to 12.6.5 fro Mojave once the offical final release of Mojave is out.

Are you getting an error message? I've only done this with 12.6.4 and havent done 6.5 yet.
Imazing does a decent job at app management in the worst case scenario.

It worked fine on my external test HD. I first disabled SIP (You do that by holding down the cmd and R keys simultaneously while starting up. You then start the terminal. In the terminal you write the command "csrutil disable" and you press enter. Then you give the command "reboot" and press enter).
Once I booted with SIP disabled I deleted iTunes from the terminal with the command "sudo rm -rf /Applications/iTunes.app". (I also deleted Books so that I could use iTunes to handle my books. I did that with the command sudo rm -rf /Applications/Books.app).
Then I simply used drag and drop from my internal HR (running High Sierra). I moved only the files iTunes.app from the High Sierra application folder to the Application folder n Mojave. Also the files iTunes Library Extras.itdb and iTunes Library.itl from the HS Music folder to the Mojave. It worked like a charm. I didn't care about the media (music and movies) because I keep my iTunes library on another external HD. I supposed you could use drag & drop with your media folder also.
Trying to backup iphone before updating to iOS 12 and iTunes 12.8 was my version. Couldn't backup, so didn't update.
Apple just pull the download for mac on the website.
