If I upgrade to 12.7 should I go into the Music folder and manually delete all the App files or does the update do that? Is there a benefit to keeping them taking up space locally?

Update does not touch the apps folder.

I went in and deleted it out, as I made a copy on Timemachine. Personally, see no need in keeping around as you no longer can update apps via iTunes and what you have in place will get more and more dated as apps get updated through new/current process.

Keeping them around is just wasting disk space at this point, imo (freed up 7-8GB).

Ok cool. Yea, should be nice to free up the space. So should I just drag the entire Mobile Applications directory in the trash or are there additional directories I could remove as well.

I just deleted the apps and left the folder. Empty folders are negligible on diskspace usage, and just in case iTunes has some poor coding and expects the folder to be there and won't work without it (don't think that would/will happen, but what the heck).
