iTunes 3 crash happy all of a sudden

For some reason iTunes has been crash happy for the past few days. It even caused my first Kernal Panic. The only thing I've installed recently are the updated iMove and iPhoto.

What should my first diagnostic/repair steps be for fixing iTunes?

First I would check that your OS X boot partition (or hard disk) isn't full or running out of space. I would also make sure you've got the latest version of iTunes (v3.0.1)

Are there any specific apps or processes running when it crashes?

I have 3gig + left on the partition OS X is on, and 30 or 40 gigs left on the partition I store my mp3's on. I've got iTunes 3.0.1 and sometimes it crashes when it's the only thing running. At first I though it might be some odd iTunes/FCP combo causing the crash, but itunes has crashed when FCP wasn't running. It seems pretty random.

Very Strange

The only other things I can suggest trying are using the Apple Repair Permissions thingy (sorry I don't quite remember its name but it should be around in apple support) and deleting iTunes with all its preferences/databases. You'll have to recreate all your playlists and ratings though

But maybe it is something to do with your recent installs - As they both integrate with iTunes now maybe they're causing problems?
