I dont know what happened, it was working wonderfully, but then, something happened and my iTunes doesnt even start..

When I double click on the iTunes icon, it says that my library file is not valid, and iTunes can not read it... what the hell is it talking about?!

thanx for any help in advance...

nothing works, I dont know why...

I reinstalled iTunes several times, I changed the installation drive and used the other partition of my harddrive when I tried to install it.. the installation has no problem but whenever I try to open the iTunes, it just keeps saying that my library file is not valid, and etc etc etc...

I was so happy using iTunes in my both platforms, and I dont understand what the problem can be...

help, please!....

I don't have a clue but... I'll guess...

What probably happened is I believe iTunes makes an XML file of all your songs... that's probably what is corrupted... dunno why... what you should try is:

Method 1:
In iTunes select all your songs and press Delete. It will prompt you if you want to remove them from iTunes and/or delete the file on your hard drive. Only delete it from iTunes, not from your hard drive. Then drag the directory that the MP3's (or whatever) are stored and it will reimport them.

Method 2:
Move all the MP3's to a new directory, then delete them from the iTunes list... reimport. Might be a little safer so you accidentally don't delete them all.

But... it seems that iTunes might not even be launching for you. In which case there should be in your iTunes or your Librarary directory a file such as "iTunes 4.xml" or something like that. Delete it. Then you can reimport all the MP3's in. That's probably where your error lies. If that doesn't fix it... use soap.

Thanx for the ONLY help, SilentPanda...

those two methods wouldnt work for me, because just as you said, my iTunes werent launching at all!..

I did it my way, and formatted my hdd partition and reinstalled my stinking windoze.. I dont know what corrupted my iTunes, but now, it works wonderful...

Thanks anyways again..

Fix The Problem Kinda

ok, so in your home folder, you go into music, then into iTunes, and you make a back up folder. drag all those files tehre into the folder. Open iTunes, and it will be fresh. Import the .xml file in the back up folder you just made, and it should work.

if you have a lot of songs, it isn't quite a quick recovery. Since i have over 8,200 songs, it takes me a few hours to re establish. But hey, atleast it gives me back my priceless playlists and star counts.

I hope that helps.
