I have a problem with iTunes 6 not being able to play certain songs when shared over the network--they just get stuck at 0:00 (not paused, but not playing either) and show an exclamation point when I switch to another track.

Most of the problem files appear to be non-iTMS AAC files, but they play fine when imported directly into either computer and also work fine on my iPod.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

I checked the file headers and I think I've got the problem pinned down to iTunes not playing nice with Nero/FAAC AAC files. Does anyone have a workaround that doesn't involve recompression? :(

Edit: Download mp4creator from http://www.rarewares.org and run "mp4creator -aac-profile=4 -optimize yourfile.m4a". This'll rewrap the file and should correct any flaky M4A's.

Thanks Lord Sandwich, you were a great help! :D
