Well, it happened again...
In iTunes, I created a smart playlist to include music tracks based on number of stars in the rating. Eventually, the smart playlist filled up with tracks that I never intended to put there, because iTunes automatically applied the stupid "album rating" which messed up the smart playlist. When this happens, I have to manually scour my entire iTunes library to remove any album ratings that have appeared. Then I have to resync my devices to remove the extra songs from the playlists.
There are actually 2 problems:
1. iTunes automatically applying album ratings in the first place.
2. Smart playlist rule was based specifically on rating, not "album rating". But when iTunes applies its stupid album rating, all tracks in that album are added to the smart playlist anyway.
Even in Mac OS Mojave 10.14, there still seems to be no way to prevent iTunes from automatically applying its stupid album ratings. Based on internet searches, it seems that this has been an issue for a long time and a number of users are frustrated by it. Since this annoying behavior in iTunes is still not fixed, I have to ask:
Does Apple have some vested interest in continuing to apply album ratings against people's wishes? Does some part of Apple's business depend on shoving album ratings down people's throats?
Or is this another case of Jonathan Ive imposing his personal preferences on everyone?
