is there anything I can do to fix this so I don't have to do either?

its is a jailbroken iphone on 5.0.1 if that helps

Have you tried another computer...?

no, I was getting close to using all my space up and i was trying to sync/clear things and i'm sure I messed something up, cause during the process it said Itunes can no longer read the file contents of the iphone.

I can't remember the file name, but deleting a certain file by SSHing can fix this. I just can't remember what the file name is no matter how hard I try.

Anytime you do any manual file manipulation, you stand the risk of doing exactly what you have done.

Since you cannot remember what file(s) you deleted/altered, we certainly cannot help you.

You will have to restore and stay away from doing this again in the future.

if there is a file that would be great to know. I am not sure why Itunes all of a sudden cant read my Iphone:confused:

ok, figured it out (google is such a great tool)

anyway deleting the file ItunesCDB using ifile fixed this and itunes is reading my phone again.

Delete these files (after backing them up just in case)

  • iTunesControl
  • iTunesCDB
  • iTunesDB

After that, to be safe, back up your data on iTunes.

It's awkward how we posted the same thing at the same exact time :D
