Hey... I just installed iTunes for windows and have been playing around with it trying to get used to it.

All my mp3's have ID3 info for song, artist and album name, but not track #... and as a result, all my albums are listed alphabetically rather than by track number.

Is there a way to get iTunes to pull the track number from the file name or something along those lines?

Thanks, but that's not the problem... the problem is that the ID3 tags for each of my mp3's don't all contain the track #.

I'm looking for a way to automatically add the track number into the id3 tag for each mp3 (rather than doing it manually).

Manually is the only way. You could re-rip all your track again, but other than that manual is the only way to go.

Yeah if the program that you used to rip or if the file you downloaded doesnt have the tag info, the only way to change that is to add it manually.

Unless- the song names are like
1-songname.mp3
2-songname.mp3

Then you could use a program like MP3 Rage, it will change the ID3 info in accordance to info in the file name.

Hmmm. Would be cool to see a new program that checks the ID3 Tags, gets the tracknumbers from cddb.com and adds them - wouldn´t that be sweet?
And I think it could be done, too!

Sorry Charlie!

I would check the apple scripts page, and if it is not there, request it :)

The poster says he's using iTunes for Windows. AppleScript is a Mac-only feature.
