iTunes and Safari probs

Hello all, I have a problem with my iTunes and Safari.

iTuens problem is the library has disappeared from my "music" folder and i cannot even start the application now. Im running 10.3. Is there something I can do to make it start up again? When i start it from the dock it bounces once and then stops and nothing happens.....

Safari has same problem, i deleted it and reinstalled it into applications and once placed in dock, the icon bounces once and then just stops. i cant open it any which way that I have tried.

if anyone can shed some light on this would be awesome!

Have you tried repairing disk permissions?

Hm...

Maybe a OS update is in order? What are we on now... 10.4.4 ? I don't really know much about macs yet, but I have noticed that keeping everything up to date usually makes things run smoother.

Yeah, like he ^ said. Repair disk permissions was my next (and only other) idea.

what versions are you running? iTunes 6.02 is fine under X 10.3.9 on my system.
did this happen spontaneously or after an update?
do you have internet access? - maybe iTunes with it's newfangled music store won't open if if can't connect on the first try (although that would be a bit odd)
if the permissions check doesn't fix it maybe delete the iTunes application and any library files in Music (don't delete you music files tho!) try a fresh download and re-import your music.

As for Safari.. does the Safari menu come up at the top of the screen? id it in the list of open applications to switch between when you press apple-tab?

I personally would avoid deleting and reinstalling apps. I'd look for a file named com.apple.Safari.plist and remove it (put it on the desktop) whilst Safari is closed. I'd then reopen and check to see that things are working.

I'd do the same thing for iTunes, I'd find the file com.apple.iTunes.plist and remove it.

Have you done anything recently to your machine to make it act so strangely? Have you installed or added any software or hardware recently?
