Having issues downloading some podcasts from the iTunes app on my iPhone. Started to happen ever since 5.1.1. Basically I get this weird screen (see photos) when attempting to download shows. Furthermore when I get this screen I'm getting no response when I tap to download an episode. This isn't happening with all podcasts but more than half that I frequent.

I tried a new restore but issue remains. Anyone having similar issues? Any ideas?

My iPad also does that now.

I'm about getting tired of iOS. It's getting to quirky, hard to fix, and the often recommended fix is reboot, or wipe and restore.

Turning very Win9x-ish.

A little research shows this is a common problem with people on Apple's discussion boards. Hopefully Apple will fix this on their side or issue a software update soon. Really annoying.

But was it a problem before 5.1.1? I have this problem too now, but only since the 5.1.1 update.

I'm not getting the problem on my iPhone 4 on 5.1.1

PS what is a lite version of DownCast? Free? It's only $2 for the full app.

Yes, lite versions of apps tend to be free. They give you a taste or partial features. (Or have ads.) For example, Pocket Casts, another iOS podcast app, allows you most of the features of their paid app but you can only subscribe up to 5 podcasts. The paid version has unlimited subscriptions.

I only pay for apps that I know I'll use. Pointless to pay $2 for something that I might not want to use once this iTunes issue eventually gets restored. Plus, as I've said before, I prefer using one app that does both my podcasts and my music.

If the problem lingers for a while, I'll use Pocket Casts lite and subscribe to the podcasts that are currently affected by this issue.

I am experiencing exactly the same problem since installing iOS 5.1.1 on my iPhone 4S. iTunes is running incredibly slowly and I get screens like you have pictured when trying to preview an album. Eventually the full album information appears but it can take up to 45 seconds.

Having owned both the 3GS and 3G prior to my current iPhone, I have never experienced anything like this before.

There is a thread that was started on the Apple support forum for the iPad where others are discussing the very same issue on different iDevices.

It's my first post so not sure whether I'm allowed to link but if I am here it is;

https://discussions.apple.com/message/18416482#18416482

On the thread, someone claims that Apple are already on the case to resolve this. Hopefully this is true and it will be addressed swiftly.

Just tried app store for the first time in 4 days, and both iPhone 4S and iPad 3 are fine again! (iOS 5.1.1 on both)

I'm getting the same problem as the OP as well, and like others, I too am becoming tired of the amount of bugs that seem to be creeping more and more into every update.

iTunes Match has made my player so unreliable when you're not on wifi (whether the track is stored locally on your device or not) that I've dumped it and now use Spotify all the time. Its just works, and more and more Apple apps don't.

As an iTunes Match subscriber, I'm in the same boat. I tried toggling Match off and the issue cleared up.

iTunes Match is the buggiest feature I've ever experienced in my 5 years of using iOS.

From playlist issues
Matching issues (explicit songs become clean songs)
Play-count and "Last Played" issues
Album art issues
Cloud songs still showing up with Match off, issues
Now, iTunes store issues

If these problems are not resolved by iOS 6, I'm not renewing my subscription.

Just to clarify, iTunes Match may make the problem worse, but I have never subscribed to the service so it can't be the cause (I wouldn't have thought)

I haven't upgraded to 5.1.1 yet, and I have this exact problem with my 4S. I'm still on 5.1.

Well that's interesting, first report I've read about this issue manifesting itself with someone on iOS 5.1

Perhaps the problem is not with our devices, but rather some fault at Apple's server side?

Its is the itunes app that freezes from podcast to trying to buy music. it might load half way then freeze up. this has happened to a lot of people since ios 5.1.1 update. im not calling apple cause that cost money. i emailed gizmodo about problem to see if they would jump on story. here is link to thread about others having same problem. i have also reboot my phone and restored it and still nothing. thx apple for denying me my smodcast on the go. gotta sync through pc.

I'm having this problem for ANYTHING in the iTunes Store app on my iPhone 4 (now retired), just-bought iPhone 4S, and new iPad - all on 5.1.1. If I dare to check out an album, it looks just like the podcast screenshots above. Never changes, either - I can't do anything with the store. My wife's iPhone 4 and original iPad do not have this problem, and they're on 5.1. I've told her not to update until this gets sorted out. Extremely frustrating problem.

iTunes is running fine on iOS 5.1.1 on my iPhone 4S, but is going so slow on iOS 5.1.1 on my iPad 2 (both are on wifi). It used to be a lot faster. I think the app store is normal speed though
