I have an Apple ID account that I have had for some time. The account name is my "firstnamelastname" (it is not an email address), it's what I use to log in to iTunes

I went to set up FindMy(iOS device) at me.com and it asks for my Apple I.D.

However, when I enter my Apple ID of firstnamelastname at me.com, it says I have to enter and email address for an ID. I tried the email associated with the Apple ID and not working.

So do i have to make a second account?

I couldn't find the answer at Apples site, but am confident someone here knows the answer.
Thanks in advance...

Bummer, was hoping someone would be able to help! Not finding the info on Apple's site, or by searching MacRumors :(

Thanks, had already looked through that before posting here, as mentioned above.

That Apple page still does not address my issue as I laid it out above, from what I found there I have spoken to a "Mac genius" and they had no answer, either...

If you know the answer besides posting a link, I would like to read it

thanks anyhow.

An unfortunate side-affect of the updated MobileMe login page is that it requires an email address and so an Apple ID that is not an email address will not work. I believe apple has now eliminated the option of renaming accounts to a non-email such as your firstnamelastname and my firstname.lastname.

What you can do however is create a new account using any email address and use that just for FindMyiPhone.

Apple doesn't really spell that out in their Help section.

I think I will submit a suggestion they re-visit that as an option to use existing Apple ID's that aren't email addresses. It seems like two different areas of Apple development didn't get together to discuss this!

Thanks for the reply.

I ran into the same issue and, IIRC, I simply changed my apple ID from NAME to EMAIL. I know that I did not create a new account and all of my account history is still there. gl, dave
