Firstly, not sure where exactly this fits - I felt like this was the best forum category. I'm probably wrong. Sorry. :/

I have an extensive Movie and TV Show library through Apple. We skipped the BluRay generation and went right to iTunes. Our library contains in excess of 600 movies plus a similar number of TV episodes that we've purchased over the years.

We also recently purchased an RV. I'd really like to be able to take a sizable portion of these movies with us and just keep in the camper. Now I know I could repurpose one of my Macs to become a streaming device and toss in an AppleTV to make that work, but I was wondering if anyone had other ideas? Is there any way to backup my entire library and access the movies through a non-Apple product or are they tied down with DRM to the point that's impossible? Can you even backup your library any more?

Hoping some folks have ideas as my searches have turned up nothing...

Whatever you downloaded can be backed up.
Whatever you bought (films, TV programmes) can only be viewed with iTunes (macOS/Windows) or on Apple devices.

Use the TV app on your Mac and download any of the movies that you want to watch. Make sure you have Home Sharing turned on on your Mac.

On the Apple TV, use the Computers app to see movies stored on your Mac.

While on the same wifi network, you can also view these movies on your iPhone or iPad. It's like having your own personal Netflix.
