I've poked around for about an hour on here and not found anything matching this. My wife has an iPad that had a bunch of movies uploaded to it. I installed them onto the iPad and did NOT keep a copy of them on my hard drive. I did not select "Sync Movies" when I synced the iPad.

I upgraded to IOS5 recently. No problems. Today I added a bunch of music from a playlist in my iTunes library to the iPad. Prior to that, Music had not been synced. The music transferred to the iPad. But even though I never clicked on "Sync Movies," now the dozens of videos are gone--nowhere to be found on the iPad.

I know that these files are not backed up anywhere, so I suspect some are gone, but I also suspect some are still intact on the storage card. Is there a data recovery tool out there that can scan the iPad and recover deleted movies? Recovering these movies would be a big help to me, so I would appreciate any advice.

Fix

Go back into itunes and deselect all of the videos and then sync.
Make sure the iOS5 upgrade is stable.
Afterwards ... add the video files back.
It is a pain.

There are no remaining videos in iTunes.

I don't have the video files. I'm wanting to know if I can recover the files off of the iPad, akin to how deleted files on a hard drive can be recovered.
