itunes authorization problem

Hi all,
hard to say which forum to post in, so i went with most general.

for the last few months, every time I sync my iPhone (and now my "new iPad"), it will not backup apps i bought on the devices, saying my computer is not authorized (and gives me directions on how to do that).

Needless to say I have done that, and it always says silly you, this computer is already authorized (4 of 5).

what do i do? At first I didn't care too much, but now it is getting to be a good number of apps.

Reset your authorized computer list and re-authorize that computer. That should fix it.

If the suggestion above doesn't fix it, then in as unpatronising a way as possible, are you 100% sure that you're trying to authorise the correct account?

Just in case...we all slip up sometimes!

Alas this did not work. I only have one apple id and it used to work. Any other suggestions?

If you go into iTunes and click File and then Transfer Purchases from iPod then what happens? Do you get the same error?
