So, the iCloud backup of my iPhone is a nice trim 5.1GB.

The iTunes backup, however, is a massive 27.3GB.

Anyone know what gets backed up in the iTunes backup that does not get backed up in the iCloud backup? Are apps being backed up?

I'm actually thinking of restoring another phone from this backup without making the Internet available and see what ends up being restored. The size difference between iCloud and iTunes backups has been vexing me for a while.

iTunes backup includes full res photos, videos that are not purchased through iTunes and more. My iCloud backup is 500MB, iTunes is 2.2GB.

I’m guessing here, it if you have iCloud Photo Library then an iCloud backup probably doesn’t need to backup as much data, whereas iTunes still backs up these things?
