iTunes "Connecting to Airpods"

Hi all,

I love my AirPods, but I have one major annoyance with them.

Every time I change the song in iTunes, iTunes says "Waiting for Bluetooth device," then "Connecting to AirPods" before it plays the song. In addition to the fact that I stream my music (damn 128GB hard drive), the total transition time before songs is about 4 seconds, which gets rather annoying.

Is this a thing for anyone else?
