I got an iPod approx 2 years ago and set myself up on iTunes etc on my personal laptop and downloaded songs to my iPod through it. Long story short, my laptop got viruses and just quit working, I rarely use my iPod and just got a new 3GS. I have downloaded a few free apps on the iPhone using my existing iTunes account that I set up 2 years ago, but now when I try to purchase apps my iPhone asks my to update my credit card info etc. That works fine and all, but then it asks me for a password that confirms my credit card info. This is a different password than my iTunes login and I have no idea what it is. I usually save emails from services like iTunes that have password info, but must have deleted that one.

My question is, can I create a new iTunes account without downloading it onto a Mac or PC? I no longer personally own a computer and don't feel right downloading that stuff onto my office computer. Or, do I need to contact iTunes and get that password from them? Ideally, I'd like to start all over on iTunes through my iPhone only. Thanks in advance.

There shouldn't be a separate password for billing.

However, you might be sorry in the long run by not having your phone syncing with your computer for backup reasons. I'd say the iPhone isn't fully functional unless paired with a computer to sync with. (No way to organize photos, only way to get music is by purchasing from iTunes, no backup of your data...)

No, there is some other password for me anyways, because I tried entering my iTunes password a couple times and it didn't work. Good point on the sync-ing and backup issues, maybe I should just download at work? Would IT frown on that?
