No Harm in it

I wish I could be sure that Apple is actively working to bring iTMS to Canada, but I've been a Mac user too long to take such an idea for granted; experience motivated me to sign this petition.

There's no harm in showing Apple proof that Canada is home to a lot of potential iTMS users. Just because its obvious to so many doesn't make it clear to Apple.

I just hope the petition gets more than 70 signatures!

They have internet in manitoba?

Personally I'd have thought sorting out Canada would be a total breeze compared to sorting out Europe. It's just one country after all and many of the record companies involved will be the same.

There are a lot less people in Canada than Europe though...

Actually We Don't

Manitoba only has one computer connected to the Internet and then we use a series of foot, bike, car, and helicopter courier methods to distribute our internet requests. We use alot of floppies and CD-ROMs.

hahahaha must be hard work, what do you do, fill out an application form with the webpage u want, then six to eight weeks later its delivered?

intranational insults, always amusing.

I personally find most online petitions pointless... but especially one on this sort of topic.

I would consider the equivalent of this would be to have created a petition in mid September calling for Apple to "Make More PowerMac G5s!", since there was a backorder... obviously they weren't making enough... so we should have told them to make more.

Manitoba Internet

It takes about as long to get access to an Internet page in Manitoba as it takes for Apple to ship a computer.

Re:iTunes music store in Canada

I was in touch with Apple Canada a couple of weeks ago regarding a technical problem. While I was on the phone, I asked the Rep about the chances for the iTMS to be made available in Canada. He did not know when access would be made available for Canadian users. Why? Because it's legal to download here. He did not forsee any change from Apple this year. So with that in mind, perhaps a petition is a good idea. The longer they go, the longer the list of names on the petition. That's my opinion, I could be wrong.

Trust me, Apple wants your money, it's an easy buck for them. If they could release it now, they would, it's just the legal technicalities that are keeping it out of your hands.

I'm not so sure about this, comments by dbasskin (a CMRRA rep) suggested (in some delicately worded posts) that any delays were not a result of legal issues, but were entirely in Apple's hands.

I think the hold-up is probably a result of Apple's waiting to get Europe sorted out, before announcing any new iTunes music stores, at the expense of the Canadian audience. With all the publicity any mention of iTunes Europe gets, Canada seems to have been left out in the cold. ;)

I agree with Arn, all online petitions seem like big wastes of time to me. Especially for apple to bring out a product outside of teh US. They like selling stuff, they're not being jerks by not bringing it to you.

Just wait for WWDC! On stage Steve will say at the end, "Oh yeah, and one more thing... I know that all of our friends up north in Canada having been waiting a long time to get access to the iTunes Music Store. I'm here today to announce... *rips off shirt revealing a tattoo that says in bold letters '**** CANADA!' throws up both middle fingers at the air and laughs maniacally*

Really though, I think that it's the music labels that are probably trying to force a ****ty deal and rape Apple the way they rape the artists they sign.
