Seems like the missing/killer app for iPhone is iTunes. Any idea why Apple did not release an iPhone version of iTunes? What are the odds we see this soon?

considering that you need itunes to put content onto the phone, I doubt they feel the need to rush an iPhone specific app.

Their whole design all along was to use synching and the computer as part of the process.

With AT&Ts announcement of music downloads for phones other than iphone leads me to believe that apple definitely has this in mind enough to restrict the iphone from this and I think it will appear one day, via some itunes iphone format from the iphone.

Seems like a natural app for travelers

I travel a lot on day trips and it would be nice to buy music or download podcasts without lugging the MacBook around or looking for a hot spot (or paying $10).

I would love a mobile iTunes on my iPhone.
I would want it to download podcasts, be able to buy songs and movies, and stream songs from other computers.

I would love an app on the iPhone that could search podcasts that are on iTunes and then stream them. You can already stream them, just no easy way to search the iTunes database.

Well if you think about it isn't the iPod basically iTunes in a different GUI from management. The iPhone iPod is iTunes wrapped around the playback portion of it and could easily add features such as downloading and buying new music.
