Hello there,
I have this custom setup of iTunes: I downloaded all tracks from iTunes Match, plus have a few others that weren't matched, all residing on the local hard drive.
Since this took too much space and I intend to cancel iTunes Match next year anyway (rumors of Apple cutting off download ability and debatable match quality), I spanned these music files to a WebDAV server running on my Synology, using TuneSpan.
All went fine except for a few tracks that couldn't be moved.
Now, I restarted iTunes, and iTunes Match immediately started recompiling information on my library. Problem is, it seems to be taking forever. iTunes is unresponsive and displays the beach ball. Traffic on the LAN and on the server is really low, almost insignificant.
I tried a force quit, but it ended up with a locked library file, solved by resetting permissions to read-write, read-only, read-only on ~/Music/iTunes folders and subfolders.
Already tried: re-using an older library file: somewhat works in the sense that tracks are still shown, in their mistagged state, but fail to play because iTunes doesn't know where to look for them. Of course I can't possibly manually re-point all tens of thousands of entries to the correct file on the webDAV server.
How would I get iTunes responsive again?
Maybe preventing it to compile information about my library?
