This seems like a simple question but searching didn't help much.

I was trying to decided what amount of space I would need to leave on my :apple: TV to have room to rent movies off of iTunes. Unless I'm missing something there is no way to tell the file size before you download a movie.

So what I'm wondering is what is the average file size of an HD movie downloaded from the iTunes Store?

I think mine have been around a gigabyte. I'm imagining that the ATV would bump off synced content in priority order to make room, though (i.e. in reverse of the order on the summary tab in itunes - movies, tv shows, music, podcasts for custom sync, newest first for automatic sync)

Well then I'll leave about 20GB free that should give me plenty of room to rent movies. I sure wish I could buy them in HD but then I'd need an even bigger box. :)

Thank you both for the quick response.
