Greetings everyone,

Frustrating iTunes issue I just discovered. Upgraded to a 15 inch air and did the Time Machine backup and transfer over from my old air. Smooth as butter.

Fast forward a few days and I go to play some music from my iTunes. I'm an old fashion download music kind of guy, not streaming or anything like that. Lo and behold, my files aren't there. It's pointing to a folder that doesn't exist, and the files are no where to be found on either the new computer or the backup hard drive. The old laptop went back to apple for trade in.

Is there any way to force iTunes to just download everything again? I went through the 'items not in library' but it doesn't show anything not in library because it think the files are there till you go and play one then it's a crap shoot if it downloads or not.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can check Apple music - iTunes store and on the right there is a section "purchased" which should take you to your music that can be downloaded.

Thanks, I tired that but it seems that because the songs are listed in iTunes it doesn't think that the songs need downloaded so they don't appear on the list.

If they are not in any of your backups I can only suggest deleting them from iTunes and trying then. Of course make sure you have a backup of your itunes as it is now so you can revert back to having the list of music. Definitely an odd thing that the folder that the music was in has not been backed up.

Thanks. Drives me nuts. Broke everything for some reason.
