itunes in the cloud question

No, itunes match will just put up a cloud version of your song to have downloaded to all your devices. You still play music locally on the iphone, ipad, etc, but you auto-update your library with whatever is in the cloud. It's not the same as streaming.

True, but they haven't specifically ruled it out, either. There have been a couple of mentions of things that could enable some sort of streaming within iTunes or even iOS, prior to the announcement about iCloud being made. I have not idea if I'm right, but I almost wonder if streaming is just one of the things they're holding back a bit on to make iOS 5 an even bigger splash when it comes out.

i think streaming is a way off, with the way data plans are with the networks in the states and the uk, streaming media is not totally realistic and wifi isn't widespread enough for on the go.
Well, since when has realistic been a requirement? Apple does Facetime, and it's WiFi only... And with the streaming release of the Red Hot Chili Peppers album today... It does make one stop and wonder.

there's a lot more than just throwing a switch, there's the coding for it for starters. Also there's getting the record companies to agree to it as well, amongst other things. They're still getting video enabled in this from what we hear.
Facetime is no comparison as it really was just down to them.

Actually, for someone that's using the iTunes match, does it allow for seamless playlist streaming playback? as the article implies a track has to be picked one track at a time. That's not really a viable way to stream if it doesn't carry on thru a playlist. The video doesn't show it either. So if i'm right, you cannot just put it in your pocket and let it play away whilst you travel.

Its will start streaming the next song when a song ends. There is a pretty massive delay between the two songs though (even on wi-fi). I assume that is just because the servers are overloaded and its beta. Half the time the songs don't play or an error pops up.
You can download an entire playlist at once. Took about 4 or 5 minutes over wifi for 60 songs or so in one of mine.
yea but you have to manually initialise it each time from what i have seen, it's by no means a proper simple streaming setup like Spotify. Tho the basics are there. Guessing we won't get proper streaming until the record companies allow it.
While I've also noticed the delays and errors when it goes between songs in a playlist, it for the most part is designed to play a playlist/album/etc. from start to finish, meaning it is proper streaming. Despite people claiming its not streaming, I have zero issues tapping a file and watching it play without being downloaded first. I mean, in iTunes for Mac, the iCloud remote songs are even recognized as an "internet audio stream."
