Has anybody seen a problem where iTunes starts
resyncing Video (Movies and TV Shows) to the ATV 2
with no apparent need or reason?

It's usually only a couple at a time and then only
intermittently.

Seems to happen pretty much only with content that I
have created -- never seen it happen to iTunes purchased
content.

My iTunes library is on an external FW drive that is regularly
connected and re-connected -- not sure if this has something
to do with it or not.

Yep.

It has to do with it connecting and reconnecting to your drive is my guess. I have a similar PITA problem with my setup. I've got music and photos on an AirDisk, and for some reason, iTunes wants to move the same 314 photos to AppleTV (v. 2 only!)

I am syncing all of my photos and music the Apple TV. I have many thousands of photos and yet only 314 of them get resynced. Also, none of my music gets resynced.

I thought it was due to my computer sleeping, dropping the connection to the AirDisk, but that wasn't it. I've got virtual toothpicks in my iMac's virtual eyes, and I'm not letting it sleep. It yawns a lot, doesn't drop the connection to the AirDisk, and yet iTunes still syncs 314 photos.

Sigh.
