iPod itunes/ipod cd covers - wtf is going on here?

I add/delete CD covers all the time, so I am pretty confident that I know what I am doing. I've had my IPOD for over 2 years so this is not new to me. There are a few CDs when I try to change the cover in iTunes it shows it, but when I look on my ipod its just black...and not the cover i added in itunes...i have no friggin idea what is going on...iv tried to look at the differences between ones that worked for me and these few that give me trouble

any help would be appreciated.

Is it an iPod touch by any chance? If so, its a known flaw thats been around for a while that Apple hasnt acted upon. Some people have had success with deleting the tracks and reimporting, but whenever its happened to me Ive had to restore my iPod before it'd sync the covers properly.

EDIT: Hmm, ok, I just realised youve had it over 2 years so it cant be a touch. Thats the only iPod Ive ever seen that flaw occur with...
