I use an external drive to store lots of videos. I end up dragging some of these videos into iTunes so I can synch them to an iPad and I notice that inside my iTunes folder there is a Home Videos folder with copies of all of the videos I dragged in there.

1. Can I delete these videos without iTunes removing them from my iPad?
2. In the future, when I want to put new videos into iTunes so I can get them onto an iPad, how do I do this without it making another copy of the video and instead just reference the original video on the folder of my drive?

Thanks.

Is copy to iTunes music library checked under Preferences, Advanced Preferences?

If so, turn it off, move the ones already copied to your computer to the trash, and re-add them from your external drive.
