itunes library bigger than 8 Gigs

My itunes library is well over 8 Gigs...I have 12 gigs of movies that I've recently started ripping with Handbrake.....obviously the entire library is too big to fit on either model of the iphone...do you think the iphone will allow you to pick and choose how much of your library you want to sync to your phone?

That's how it works on current iPod's. So, it's safe to assume, yes.

When you look at the available syncing choices for photos, tunes, movies, contacts on current iPods, you are able to select which playlists, contact lists, photo libraries are transferred. Since the iPhone is still a video iPod, there's no reason to think that the user-selectable filtering will not still be available precisely as it is now.

As far as what you do sync, that's just a matter of personal preference and choice. I'm sure Apple made a determination of memory available based on both pricing and typical library sizes actually in use on iPods vs. total library sizes.

I find it easiest to just create a special play list for the iPhone (i do this with my iPod nano). It contains the subset of my iTunes Library that I want synced to that device.

I have a 30 gig iPod and I can't imagine not being able to carry all my music around with me. It's why I got it. This is probably the biggest negative for an iPhone in my book...although I suppose I could just carry both around, but that would seem a bit silly.

The case can be made, however, that there's no way I could listen to my entire library in one consecutive sitting, so there's always Smart Playlists, as were already mentioned in this thread.

Its funny cos I have 2gb Nano and an 80gb iPod (which still fit my music), yet I always take out the NAno. Takes a bit longer to set up smart playlists but I just find it more convenient and id never listen to 2gb let alone 80gb in a day. So I will probably find 8gb to be fairly easy to deal with. I do know where you are coming from though
