Hey,

I am wondering if I can use my 2tb Icloud Drive to store my entire itunes library, including my lossless files which don't seem to be preserved using itunes match.

does anyone do this? the primary reason is to backup my itunes library, but also to access the lossless on my other computers from time to time.

Does this work well? How is icloud drive these days?

thanks!
richard

As long as your internet connection is good, no problem. It is just like streaming from youtube or Netflix. The better your connection the better the remote playback is.

i am not talking about itunes music library, which seems to be essentially itunes match (?), but instead i am wondering about storying all of the actual music files in my icloud drive (which is like dropbox).

and so, if I understand icloud drive, would not be streaming but would be locally stored music.

does anyone do this? are there any problems with it?

thanks,
r.

It would work, since iCloud Drive is cached on a local drive (assuming that drive has adequate capacity!)

Never tried it though, create another small iTunes library and try it out and report back. This might give me something to do with my 1TB of extra iCloud Drive space.

that's what I'm trying to do too. In theory it seems to work because on iTunes you can point to a folder as the "iTunes media" folder, through iCloud Drive. my question would be, if I have two computers pointed at the same library how would that work. Essentially I have created my own private streaming service.
