as friend of mine posted this on a forum I use and was wondering if anyone on here would have any idea's

Hi all

I've just got myself a Core 2 duo macbook. It's supurb should have switched ages ago.

One thing though importing cds in itunes the mac peaks at about 9x. The macbook spec runs rings round my PC (Skt 939 AMD 3200) but the PC imports cds at about 20x sometimes quicker!

I have the settings the same on each machine with error correction off. You'd think that Apple would be able to run their own applications at the same speed!

i thought it may have something to do with energy saving...anyone got any bright idea's?

thanks

It was this one, and it's because of the CD Drive being slower in the Macbook.

that had been suggested but, but according to him a friend of his also has an"Older" macbook too, and that imports at about 20x just as his PC does

just have him get a USB DVD/CD drive. mine can record/rip up to 60x, but usually one gets to 50

while i appreciate what your saying, i'm not 100% convinced that he will just accept that, having just bought a Brand new Machine only to find someone with an older version of the machine can RIP music faster, of course he has not bought the machine solely for this purpose but its disheartening when this happens

That sounds like rubbish to me. My Macbook gets like 5.4x (160kbps VBR).
