I used to keep my iTunes music, videos, etc., on my Mac Mini and always backed up just the iTunes directory to my NAS. My Mac Mini subsequently gave up the ghost a few years ago now and I still have my iTunes directory saved on my NAS. I don't even remember what version of macOS I was using at the time on my Mac Mini. Anyway, I have a 16 inch MacBook Pro now and I have nothing in iTunes. Is there any way I could use my iTunes directory, from a versions old macOS from my Mac Mini, and somehow import it to use on my current MacBook Pro? I thought I could just rename the current iTunes directory to (- OLD) and then copy over the iTunes directory I had saved to my NAS. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Just open the library file on the nas with iTunes/music app. No need to move it all over (unless you want to)

WHy does the new itunes suck so much? Can you still see in songs when you search no!

So I opened the Music app on my MacBook Pro, chose Music > Preferences > Files tab and pointed the folder location to the iTunes directory I had backed up on my NAS. I drug the Music directory from the iTunes backup directory onto the left pane of the Music app and my music was imported. Great.

Now, I have a lot of music but I don't want all of it on my iPhone. It used to be that once you connect your iPhone to your computer it would show up in the left pane of the Music app. I don't see my iPhone now. Not only that, I want to manually add only certain music from my Music library to my iPhone. Hmmm. Seems everything has changed for the worst since I can't see my iPhone in the left pane of the Music app to manually drag the music I selected to it. Any ideas on how to do this?
