iTunes Match ~ >25k Songs?

Any hints, plans, or rumors for an iTunes Match (Pro, Plus, DJ Edition) with extended storage? My iTunes library is 25,277 songs and as advertised Apple has 25k limit on songs...

I really really would like to be a subscriber... only quick idea I had would be to maybe split my library and dual subscribe with different Apple IDs.

Any thoughts, solutions, or info would be much appreciated ;TIA!

My understanding is that its a 25k limit on songs that it DOES NOT MATCH. So assuming some of your music library is for sale on iTunes, you should be able to store your whole library on iCloud no problem.

2 libraries

I think you have to make 2 (or more) different itunes libraries on your computer, but I THINK you can use the same apple store id. That way, you can actually have more than 25K songs associated with your account.

Answers from both spectrums... I was hoping/leaning on that if the music was already in the cloud it wouldn't count towards any limits; that would be great! Surely someone with a library over 25k songs has signed up... chime in and fill in the details please

I can't tell you how disappointed by the 25k limit I am. I have 28K+, mostly ripped from CDs (though more and more itunes/amazon DLs) and growing at about 150 or 200 or so a month. I wrote off the possibility of a high capacity ipod classic since I thought they were going to supply the capacity in the cloud. Guess not.

Of course, it makes absolutely no sense, unless you are religiously prohibited form having more than one tier of pricing (um, iTunes?), to not just charge more for more storage. I already have all my 28K+ tracks in the Amazon Cloud (took about three days at fios upload speeds), at a price of my Amazon Prime subscription. But I was so looking forward to Match. Boggled.

Isn't that the same thing... in a nutshell? I guess does the 25k limit include or exclude actual matched songs? That is the bottom line; or is it 25k period regardless if they are matched or not?

Create another library (on the same computer, same iTunes account) or mark some songs as Podcasts or Audiobooks. Read more here:

Read kimhill's suggestion in the comments section for an easier way to duplicate your library.

I have 45K+ songs & haven't decided wtf I am going to do. Whether I start fresh or make a copy of my library & remove - it won't be an easy task for me. I am holding out for a better solution for now. Sucks that the people that have the greatest need for iTunes Match are shutout.

Pick 300 songs that you don't mind not being in 'the cloud' and add them to a playlist. Select them all, uncheck them, and then 'get info' and change their Media Type to Audiobooks. Then you can join iTunes Match and let it do its thing. It will take over 24 hours with that big of a library so be warned, just leave it alone and let it do its thing.

After everything is done you can go back to that playlist and change the Media Type of those songs back to Music. Eventually Apple will have to offer an upgrade option.

This is basically what I did and it worked.

No because purchased off iTunes and just matching are not the same thing. If you rip song "Here Comes the Sun" off your CD then it counts as one of your 25,000 and you only have 24,999 left. If you bought "Here Comes the Sun" off iTunes then it doesn't count and you still have 25,000 left.
