For the past 2 days, the service has been stuck on various points in the process of matching songs, never to successfully complete it. I've tried restarting iTunes, turning the service off and on (which usually fixes any issues), but nothing.

Is it just me or everyone?

I am having the same issues!! I emailed support last night and I am stuck on step number 2 and it just sits there.

I turned off iTunes Match and turned it on, nothing. I turned it odd, restarted my computer, tuned on iTunes Match again, and the same issues.

I emailed support with a reply, so if I get any helpful tips or anything changes I will let you know in this thread.

Here is a picture of the step I am stuck on.

I've been having the same problem all weekend. Mine is stuck on step 1 though.

We'll try emailing support. When I did and get the 1st reply I wanted to scream. I put in them email that I turned it off, and back on. Then again along with restarting my Mac Mini. I get a reply "You can usually resolve most issues with iTunes Match by turning the service off and back on."

I'm having two concurrent issues that started around the same time. I too get stuck on step one when I'm attempting to match new tracks. I've tried all the old-school fixes (deleting that hidden folder, turning itunes match on and off, rebooting, etc) and occasionally it seems to push the files through to the server, but it's inconsistent at best, and I've lost probably 18 hours working on this over the past week and a half.

On the other side, even if I manage to get tracks to match... NONE of them are showing up on my iphone, no matter what I do. I've turned it on and off, turned match on and off, nothing makes a difference. Emailed apple and they played dumb, but I'm getting anxious as I've already lost so much time here and cant' listen to anything new in my car.

What hidden folder are you deleting?

Same thing here for the past few days. As soon as I add any more songs than I currently have, the matching process doesn't finish anymore. Turning iTunes Match off and on again doesn't seem to have any effect.

Downloading songs from an iPhone 5s is also incredibly slow (specifically, the processing step) and will fail intermittently. :/

Yes, mine as well.
On Friday I ripped 3 commercial CDs.
It "matched" 2 of them, stalled on the third and hasn't been able to update all weekend.

Good news:
No problem accessing music and downloading it on iPhone or iPad.

Same issue here. Wish I'd checked these forums before spending time signing in and out of iTunes Match roughly 9,822 times. I had an album I wanted to upload, and it just kept getting hung up. I even tried editing the metadata, tags, and file name information just in case that was it. I tried switching to a different format (MP3 instead of AAC). Nada. So I tried uploading another album. Same problem.

iTunes Match and I have had a rocky relationship for a while.

iTunes match never really works for me. Think its because I have too many songs. its always sending info to Apple and randomly deletes my CD covers its really annoying. I got because I bought the base model of the Air. Its doesn't work like I hoped. Too many of my songs are uploaded.

I did what that link showed me, and yes it doesn't work like it should. I got it working after a while of messing with that link I posted. That is the only Apple service that can't recommend to anyone. I have a love/hate relationship with it and when it works, it's great.

What the heck??

My iTunes Match was sticking on step 1. So I decided to turn it off, reboot and try again.

Some background: About 1.5 months ago I replaced my primary internal drive with a 256GB SSD. I used a kit from OWC to replace the Superdrive with a 500 GB drive I had. I moved my entire iTunes library to the 500GB drive and changed the settings in iTunes to use that folder as the library.

When I switched off iTunes Match I instantly saw all of my music just disappear from iTunes!! I was left with exactly 1 album, which had just been released and downloaded.

I checked the iTunes folder on the 500GB drive and it was completely empty!!! What happened to all my music??

Luckily I still had my old primary drive in an external enclosure so I again copied the iTunes library to the 500GB internal drive and again added it to iTunes.

I let iTunes Match run overnight but it got stuck on step 2. While it was trying this I noticed that some of my purchased music was missing so I selected one album and told it to download. It completed the download but I was struck with a spinning beach ball and iTunes was frozen. I waited a while and nothing happened so I force quit iTunes and relaunched it. I got the small box saying "checking iTunes library" but the progress bars froze after a bit and nothing happened for about 45 minutes so I had to force quit again. I rebooted and relaunched iTunes, which worked, and now iTunes Match seems to be stuck again on step 1.

Until very recently I have been pretty happy with iTunes Match.

I need to point out that when I installed the new SSD I did a clean install of Mavericks.

I'm getting worried about what's going on with my Mac :(

Hmm, I tried to sign up to iTunes match today, ignorant of all these issues and it wouldn't let me, I got this:

Seems they are not accepting new subscribers at this moment in time.

This is why you do NOT want to use "Let iTunes Manage My Library". Because if you change something and iTunes misinterprets that action, it will erase stuff. I have tried to us the feature on and off over the last 10 years and I always end up loosing songs here and there. Luckily I keep backups because I know it will do it. The last thing that happened to me was a couple months ago and I did a restore on my phone. I resync'ed my phone afterwards and since I didn't have any podcast subscribed on the phone after the restore, it completely and utterly erased all the podcasts on my computer, which was several hundred files.

The upside is that "Automatically Add To iTunes" folder does use the manage method. So the first time it adds the song, it will organize it all nice and properly, but after that it will not erase or move anything without your consent.
